Did you know that one wheelchair for an ALS patient can cost in excess of $25,000?
Unfortunately, a wheelchair is only one of the many items individuals diagnosed with ALS need to assist them with everyday living. In addition to medical equipment, most individuals with ALS need to make several adjustments to their home to accommodate their needs as ALS progresses. For example, many individuals with ALS need handicap ramps, railings, wide halls, and special equipment to allow for simple things like a bath. The equipment needed - and the adjustments necessary to get through daily living - is absolutely sobering, and generally results in extreme financial hardship for a family with a loved one living with ALS. Further, medical insurance often will not cover many of these necessities!
This year, we have set a goal for $25,000, the equivalent of the cost of one medical wheelchair.
In an effort to reach our goal, we have scheduled a number of fundraising events throughout the year.
We need your help - we cannot reach our goal without your generosity. Therefore, we ask that you join us in our effort to make a difference in the lives of families living with ALS! Together, we WILL make a difference.
