A Race Worth Winning; Helping to Raise Awareness of ALS

Oh what a year!

Dec 1st 2008
Goal thermometer of $25,000

2008 was a great year for A Race Worth Winning – ALS. Early on, we set a goal of raising $25,000 for Minnesotan’s with ALS. We decided to funnel all our donations to the Durable Equipment Loan Program through the Minnesota Chapter of ALS Association.

A Race Worth Winning – ALS hosted a number of events this year to help reach our goals. There was the 5K Walk/Run, Golf Tournament, Bike Run, Bowling Night, ALS Night at the Races, Scrapbook Crops, and great new merchandise! The hours put into making these events successful certainly paid off!

We are very proud to announce that we shattered that goal and were able to present a check for $40,000.00 to the Minnesota Chapter!! The Minnesota Chapter serves over 350 Minnesota families affected with ALS. That donation will help to provide ventilators, wheelchairs and other necessary equipment for PALS (Persons with ALS).

The check was presented during the Chapter’s annual Dinner of Champions on Thursday, November 6th. The event was very inspiring! We were able to meet many others who are using their gifts to help make a difference for PALS and their families. It was a stark reminder that although we are all making great strides towards helping bring ALS to the forefront in the political and research worlds, there is much more to be done.

We invite each and every one of you to use your gifts, whether it be time, talents or monetary donations, to get involved. Amazing things can happen when you get a group of passionate people together devoted to making a difference!

Thank you to all of our sponsors that have helped us to reach our goal and I encourage you to take a peak at the Sponsors Page on our website. Please support the people that support the cause!

Watch for our 2009 schedule coming soon!
