It was perfect weather for the group of over 150 walkers and runners that gathered at Elko Speedway for the 3rd Annual A Race Worth Winning 5K Walk/Run. The group began to congregate at 8:30 for the 10am walk. Marge and Jack Ryan led the walk that included participants of all ages, in the Elko Speedway pace car. "It is a fitting way to lead the walk, this is great!" said walkers from the nearby Kelly Glen neighborhood.

Halfway through the 5K, participants were treated to freezies at Boulder Point golf course and went on to enjoy homemade cookies and lemonade provided by Jimmie and Julie Jorgenson in downtown Elko. "It’s a fun way for the kids to get involved and all the proceeds go to the walk," stated Lisa Jorgenson, avid supporter of A Race Worth Winning.

Champions at Elko Speedway provided a cool place for participants to gather after finishing the walk on the start/finish line of the race track. Carlander Cattle Company and The First State Bank of Faribault provided lunch and walkers were able to shop Lia Sophia and At Home America at the same time.

"In all, it was amazing to have such an incredibly successful event," told Lori Marshall, co-organizer of the event. "We were able to raise over $23,000, with donations still coming in! We want to thank all that participated and sponsored the event!"

All funds raised will go toward the Minnesota Chapter of ALS Association designated for their equipment loan pool program.
