In December of 2005, one of the racing community's finest was diagnosed with ALS. Following this devastating diagnosis, there was an amazing outpouring of love and support shown by many, and they all wanted to know what they could do to help.
Out of this love and support, a group of dear friends joined together to form a non-profit group called A Race Worth Winning-ALS. The purpose of this group was to create awareness of ALS within the community and to raise money to help those suffering from this debilitating disease.
In connection with their efforts, the members of A Race Worth Winning have not only inspired many to open their hearts and join them in accomplishing their purpose, they have also helped give a voice to the individuals and their families who struggle with the devastating effects of ALS on a daily basis. Collectively, A Race Worth Winning and each and every one of the group's supporters have made the harsh reality of a diagnosis of ALS much more bearable.
In the past six years, A Race Worth Winning has raised over $275,000 as a result of the generosity of those who have decided to join the cause in an effort to make a difference in the lives of families living with ALS. The money A Race Worth Winning has raised has been donated to the Minnesota Chapter of ALS and earmarked for research and medical equipment. Although A Race Worth Winning is extremely grateful for the love and support they have received thus far, the group is far from being done!
